Gelsemium sempervirens Margarita
Margarita Carolina Jessamine
Margarita is a cold-hardy form with flowers that are slightly larger than the species.
This native twining vine has sweetly scented, canary-yellow flowers and glossy evergreen foliage. The vine is very showy from February to May, when it is in flower. The foliage of this evergreen vine generally bronzes in winter.
With multiple uses, Carolina jessamine is frequently used on mailboxes, fences, downspouts, trellises, and on the ground. It is beautiful in the woods scrambling up small trees like dogwood.
